چکیده

We propose an approach for automatically generating isotropic 2D quadrangle meshes from arbitrary domains with a fine control over sizing and orientation of the elements. At the heart of our algorithm is an optimization procedure that, from a coarse initial tiling of the 2D domain, enforces each of the desirable mesh quality criteria (size, shape, orientation, degree, regularity) one at a time, in an order designed not to undo previous enhancements. Our experiments demonstrate how well our resulting quadrangle meshes conform to a wide range of input sizing and orientation fields.

Re - Meshing Algorithms Applied to Mould Filling Simulations in Resin Transfer

In injection moulding processes such as Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) for example, numerical simulations are usually performed with a fixed mesh , on which the displacement of the flow front is predicted by the numerical algorithm. During the injection , special physical phenomena occur on the front , such as capillary effects inside the fibre tows or heat transfer when the fluid is injected at...

Biting Spheres in 3D

We present an eecient 3D meshing algorithm which combines the merits of two popular meshing methods, advancing front and sphere packing methods. In particular , it inherits the practicality and simplicity of advancing front and the size-and-quality guarantee of the sphere packing method. We prove that it generates a well-shaped mesh whose size is within a constant factor of the optimal possible...

Biting Ellipses to Generate Anisotropic Mesh

In numerical simulation where the underlying function is strongly directional, it is desirable to use a mesh that is adaptive both in size and in shape. In such simulation, a metric tensor is used to quantify the ideal size and direction locally at each point in the domain, which in turn deenes the local stretching and size of the triangles or quadrilater-als of the mesh. Given a metric tensor,...

High Quality Geometric Meshing of CAD Surfaces

A wide range of surfaces can be defined by means of composite parametric surfaces as is the case for most CAD modelers. There are, essentially, two approaches to meshing parametric surfaces: direct and indirect. Popular direct methods include the octree-based method, the advancing-front-based method and the paving-based method working directly in the tridimensional space. The indirect approach ...
